Christian Worldview And Biblical Entrepreneurship - 876 Words

Christian Worldview and Biblical Entrepreneurship As Christians, we are required to show God’s rule in all occupations. We exercise dominion by becoming good stewards to the gifts He has bestowed upon us. God expects us to use our gifts to the fullest. â€Å"From everyone who has given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.† Luke 12:48 (NIV). The idea of biblical entrepreneurship and the Christian worldview are closely related. A Christian Worldview explains the framework of ideas and beliefs through which a Christian individual, group or culture interprets the world and interact with it (Tackett, nd.). Someone with a Biblical worldview believes his primary reason for existence is to love and serve God, believing everything in the Bible as truth allowing it to be the foundation for everything you say and do (Tackett, nd.). Having a Christian Worldview and becoming an entrepreneur can go hand in hand. Biblical entrepreneurship, as defined by Tsague in Biblical Principles for Starting Operating a Business, is a Biblically based process of identifying opportunities, taking calculated risks, solving problems, and exercising business stewardship for profit (Tsague, 2006, pg.18). The text gives many principles that are crucial to doing business successfully from God’s perspective. Nursing Shortage Or Surplus Essay - 1815 Words

Kia Roybiskie April 23, 2015 Mr. Lance Laplante Nursing: Shortage or Surplus? In recent years, nursing schools have been overflowing with students seeking nursing licenses. Like the baby boomers age, the United States is facing a tremendous surplus of licensed nurses. With much of these â€Å"boomers† still holding many positions, new graduates are being persuaded to pursue further training beyond a diploma or associate’s degree. They are being convinced to seek more advanced degrees in nursing or even finding a new field of study. With many registered nurses coming out of retirement, graduates are having a difficult time finding a job. As of now, hospitals are seeing an excess amount of nurses. However, this overflow of care givers is only temporary because of the number of nurses becoming discouraged, the country’s economic state, and the limited amount of space offered in nursing schools. As of now many Americans are in desperate need of a job, but soon the nursing field will be in desperate need of America ns. Health care professionals are anticipating for this surplus to lead to an immense shortage. This deficiency is expected because countless amounts of new nursing grads are being rejected and seeking training in other fields. â€Å"Nena Sanders, dean of Samford University’s nursing school, said the school has seen an influx of students coming back for a second degree, this time in nursing because they believe it has long-term stability† (Nursing Surplus).Show MoreRelatedNursing Shortage For Many Years860 Words   |  4 PagesThe Nursing Profession has been experiencing shortages for many years. LEDC and MEDC Economic and Social Issues Free Essays

The population in the UK is forever ageing, with people living until a much older age today. One economic effect of this is that pensioners will, in time, outnumber children. This will mean that there will be a generation between certain ages that has a very low population and once this age band becomes part of the working population, there will be significantly less tax revenues for the government. We will write a custom essay sample on LEDC and MEDC Economic and Social Issues or any similar topic only for you Order Now This will indirectly affect the economy. In addition, there may be a large deficit, where the about being paid into the economy is less than the amount being paid out. Because pensioners require healthcare, disability benefits and state pensions, there may be a lot of money going out to the high number of pensioners and because there are much more older dependant people the working population cannot produce enough make sure there is stability. This could also mean there is a great burden on the health service. When people are older, they require much more healthcare, and so the health services in the UK will have more pressure as there are so many older people. There are also many social costs. One is that with more people becoming older, the death rate will be high, but the birth rate remains low as there are so many older people and very few people are young enough to give birth. This will mean the population could decrease. Additionally, when there are more elderly people, the healthcare system cannot cope, there will be a sudden need for more old people’s homes and this will put pressure on the NHS. However, there are some positive economic impacts. There will be a growing market for products such as stair lifts and wheel chairs. Also, companies like hotels will have a wider spread of profits throughout the year because pensioners. There may also be an increase in private healthcare profits because many elderly people who are rich can afford to have private healthcare. There is also an increased life expectancy and lower death rates in the country as more people are living and for a long time. Caatinga in north Brazil is a rural area that is home to mostly poor people. The people living in Caatinga are moving to much more industrialized cities like Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro to the south of Brazil. The main reasons people are leaving the rural areas are the lack of employment opportunities, the main source of income in Caatinga is farming jobs and other agricultural jobs. This is then made worse by the frequent droughts in the area and other natural disasters. Another reason people are moving is because of large families that have very little land to share amongst the sons. This is caused by a high birth rate in rural areas like Caatinga. Overgrazing of the land will lead to bad crops being produced and soil that is useless. This then leads to starvation, resulting from either too little output for the people of the area or crop failure. This has then lead to more families selling land off and moving away. The land that they sell off may be to richer farmers that have tractors and other mechanized equipment. This then causes a reduction in the number of jobs available in the area. Farming is also hard work with long hours and little pay. In LEDC’s lack of money will mean a lack of farming equipment. Caatinga also experiences many droughts and so the hard physical condition of the area will cause a loss of jobs or food in the area. Caatinga also has a lack of services like schools and hospitals; this will be hard for families to cope with because of young children. Finally, the government are more likely to invest in urban areas rather than rural areas like Caatinga. The reasons that people move to the city and urban areas are because, they seek better jobs that pay much more money, jobs in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are much better paid than in Caatinga. They are housed better and have a better quality of life, they have a better medical treatment and more services like schools and they have enough food. The UK, which is in Western Europe, is an MEDC. The average life expectancy in the UK is 77 years. Burkina Faso is in Central Africa and is an LEDC. The life expectancy there is 48 years. Firstly the infant mortality rate in Burkina Faso is 170 per 1000. This means out of every 1000 babies born, 170 of them are likely to die. This proves that there is a problem in Burkina Faso because in the UK the Infant mortality rate is only 6 per 1000. This clearly shows how the healthcare in Burkina Faso is poor and so they are more likely to die younger. Another factor is the Average calorie intake per day. In Burkina faso it is 2387 calories, whereas in the UK it is 3317 calories. Burkina Faso’s figure is lower than what is needed to live. This shows how more people are starving and dieing younger. Similarly, the amount of the population that is malnourished in Burkina Faso is 30%, whereas in the UK it is 2%. This illustrates a growing problem of food in Burkina Faso. The lack of available food will mean more people are dieing and many more young people are struggling to survive. The number of years for the UK’s population to double is 433 years, in contrast to Burkina Faso who’s population is said to double in 23 years! This will cause large problems with resources and may start off a large phase of famine and disease. This will keep the Life expectancy low. The access to healthcare in Burkina Faso is less than 50% this clearly indicates a problem in health with many people and the majority of the population not being able to have healthcare. This will keep the life expectancy low, compared to the UK which has 100% access to healthcare for everyone. With an average income of only $230 per person, Burkina faso is likely to have problems of poverty and lack of food and clean water. This means most families are likely to die young because no money will eventually be the cause of deaths, against the UK, with an average income of i18,000. These factors clearly show that Burkina faso has a very low life expectancy, many people are dieing as a result of these poor living standards. Whereas the UK has a high life expectancy because the overall quality of life is better. How to cite LEDC and MEDC Economic and Social Issues, Papers

Penukonda, Andhra Pradesh: At least 25 people were killed and over 30 were injured when Bangalore-bound Hampi Express collided with a goods train in Andhra Pradesh today. The mishap occurred around 3:15 this morning when the Hampi Express, travelling from Hubli to Bangalore, rammed a stationary goods train near Penukonda station in Anantapur district. (See First Pics) As a result of the collision, two coaches of the Hampi Express derailed and caught fire. According to reports, when the accident occurred, a police personnel travelling in the train immediately called the circle inspector. The timely information helped the police reach the site quickly. However, the fire made it difficult for them to begin rescue efforts. Firefighters and railway officers helped the police in rescue operations. They used metal cutters to get inside the bogies where passengers were stuck. They also shifted the injured to hospitals in Penukonda, Hindupur and Anantapur. Railway Minister Mukul Roy is on his way to the accident site. Every life is precious. This is a very sad incident, the minister said before leaving Bangalore for Penukonda. He has ordered an inquiry into the collision and has also offered to arrange Railway jobs for those injured. If anybody injured wants to join the Railways, we will provide him or her with jobs, he said. The minister also announced a compensation of Rs. five lakh each for the families of the deceased, Rs. one lakh for those who sustained grievous injuries and Rs. 50,000 for those who received minor injuries, reports PTI. According to Harinath Reddy, the Deputy Superintendent of Government Railway Police, Guntakal, most of the victims of the accident were labourers from Hubli and Hospet in Karnataka who were on their way to Bangalore. Those killed include at least three women and two children, he added. Karnataka Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda, who also rushed to the accident site, has announced a compensation of Rs. one lakh each for the families of those killed and Rs. 25,000 for those injured. Railways spokesperson Anil Saxena said according to preliminiary information available, the driver of the Hampi Express overshot the signal and rammed the rear of a stationary goods train. Prima facie it seems that the driver of the Hampi Express overshot the signal, he said. Mr Saxena added that the engine and the first three coaches of the Hampi Express were worst hit due to the collision. The first bogey is guard-cum-luggage-cum passenger coach; the second and third are general compartments. While the first and the third coaches derailed, the second remained on the tracks, he said. The police have registered a case against the driver of the express train and his assistant. Both were injured in the accident and are currently recovering in a hospital. A relief train with medical supplies and a special train were sent from Bangalore to Penukonda to help the injured. Stranded passengers have now begun arriving at the Bangalore City Railway Station. While some of them reached Bangalore on the special train, others were brought to the city by bus. Some of those injured seemed unhappy about the governments disaster management efforts. I am very sorry about the disaster management efforts. These things keep on happening but precautions should be made and there should be more people to help, complained one of them. It has happened to poor public who were traveling in general compartment. There was no response from the Railways. I hope in future, the government will make efforts. Every junction should have disaster management systems, added another. As a result of the accident, many Bangalore-bound trains travelling via Andhra Pradesh were delayed for close to three hours. The trains that were delayed included the Secunderabad-Bangalore Express and Delhi-Bangalore Rajdhani. Trains on the Bangalore-Mumbai route also saw minor delays.

Evaluating My Life In Light Of Eriksons Psychosocial Stages essays

Evaluating My Life In Light Of Eriksons Psychosocial Stages essays Evaluating My Life In Light Of Eriksons Psychosocial Stages I think, over the period involving the first 12 to 18 months of my life, I was able to resolve the first of Eriksons psychosocial stages adequately. My mother, during this time, supplied me with appropriate provisions of food, warmth, and the comfort of physical closeness. This allowed me to understand and accept that objects and people exist even when I could not see them. This was a major stepping stone where the foundation for trust became important. In the next period of my life, from about 18 months to 3 years of age, I was able to resolve the second of Eriksons psychosocial stages adequately. It was around this time that I began to assume important responsibilities for my own self-care like feed myself, using the toilet on my own, and dressing myself. It was during this time also that I began learning many physical skills, including walking and grasping. I learned that I could control my own body and its functions. And that I could make things happen. Eriksons third stage of psychosocial development came between the ages of 3 to 6 years of age. I was continuing to become more assertive and to take more initiative. My mother and my teachers at school encouraged this. I am pretty sure that I was allowed, at least on he weekends (Ha Ha), to choose what I wanted to wear and was allowed to wear whatever I had chosen. In the fourth stage of Eriksons psychosocial development, between 6 and 12 years of age, I was learning to see the relationship between perseverance and the pleasure of a job well done. I was physically and mentally ready to be productive and to do work on my own. I also had many friends at this time and understood what friendship was. I believe that having good friends and peers helped me to be productive and succeed in both school and after school activities. In Eriksons identity vs. role confusion"...

International Relations at NYU Personal Statement

International Relations at NYU - Personal Statement Example I realize that I will need to reach beyond the NYU community in order to do the type of work I want to do. In addition to my chosen course of study, I feel that I am a good fit for either NYU campus.   I have had experiences that I feel will add to the community of scholars at NYU.   Giving as well as receiving is an important value that I have.   Both are important for establishing a community of interdependence, respect and reciprocity.   These values have been instilled in me since I was young and I know that they will guide me in my studies and in my life work.   I look forward to becoming a part of the academic community at NYU.   International relations is such a broad field of study.   I am excited about working with a cosmopolitan faculty and student body as I gain the knowledge I need to have so I can discover all of the possibilities international relations at NYU has to offer.

You Are What You Eat Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

You Are What You Eat - Essay Example It is no longer dominated by small, carefully-run family farms producing some wheat, corn, dairy and perhaps eggs and poultry fed and being raised in a free-running farm area., but rather, it is dominated and run by huge multinational food processing companies whose aim is to make more profit and compete for a global position in terms of the best companies. These companies forget that they are dealing with nourishment products for the health of millions of Americans and therefore be more cautious and humane in the food they produce and even how they produce and package it.In their greediness to expand their business, these food companies engage in lying behaviors and techniques since they are aware that majority of the people are ignorant when buying food from supermarkets and others have no clue of the nutritional content and simply trust the company or the product in the supermarket. The lies are therefore numerous and they often start here during production and even transportation and preservation. If you look at a tomato, you may think of a green ripened vegetable that is going to nourish your body and you may feel pretty optimistic purchasing this item to eat or sharing it with your family. In actuality, that is more like a concept of a tomato. By this I mean this tomato may have been picked days earlier in another country by migrant farmers- before it was ripe. Then ripped by ethylene gas, shipped off in a semi-truck soaked with more toxic chemicals and now sits under fluorescent lights.

Black Culture And Issues Within The Media - 1625 Words

There have been countless shows on television that have had a focus on black culture and issues within the community. The Television shows Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Black-ish bring to light and successfully decode the 20th to 21st century race issues, specifically black male issues that have not been adequately dealt with in the mainstream media. Mainstream television has had black characters and have covered black issues, but they often have characters that fit and fuel stereotypes about the black male. These characters are sometimes portrayed similar to what is seen in public or in the news such as gangsters and absent fathers. In the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, the Banks family is an upper middle class family and Will Smith is an athletic, young black male, while Carlton Banks is an intelligent young black male. This challenges the way that black males are often represented on television. In Black-Ish, the show is able to tackle the misrepresentation and stereotypes surrounding bl ack males as well as the community, through dialogue about things that are not usually talked about. Black-Ish is able to present these issues in a non-confrontational fashion, making the issues accessible to people outside the black community and successfully increasing awareness and understanding. By analyzing the casting as well as representation of black male characters in Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and dialogue in Black-Ish, as well as blatant misrepresentation of black males in Friday NightShow MoreRelatedMedia Effects Body Image1656 Words   |  7 PagesApril 6, 2014 The Effects of Mass Media on African American Women Body Images Over the past 10 years, mass media and the access to social networks has evolved substantially causing the effects of negative self-image and what is considered beautiful. The Probability of Rolling a Full House in Yahtzee

The game of Yahtzee involves the use of five standard dice. On each turn, players are given three rolls. After each roll, any number of dice may be kept with the goal being to obtain particular combinations of these dice. Every different kind of combination is worth a different amount of points. One of these types of combinations is called a full house. Like a full house in the game of poker, this combination includes three of a certain number along with a pair of a different number. Since Yahtzee involves the random rolling of dice, this game can be analyzed by using probability to determine how likely it is to roll a full house in a single roll. Assumptions We will begin by stating our assumptions. We assume that the dice used are fair and independent of one another. This means that we have a uniform sample space consisting of all possible rolls of the five dice. Although the game of Yahtzee allows three rolls, we will only consider the case that we obtain a full house in a single roll. Sample Space Since we are working with a uniform sample space, the calculation of our probability becomes a calculation of a couple of counting problems. The probability of a full house is the number of ways to roll a full house, divided by the number of outcomes in the sample space. The number of outcomes in the sample space is straightforward. Since there are five dice and each of these dice can have one of six different outcomes, the number of outcomes in the sample space is 6 x 6 x 6 x 6 x 6 65 7776. Number of Full Houses Next, we calculate the number of ways to roll a full house. This is a more difficult problem. In order to have a full house, we need three of one kind of dice, followed by a pair of a different type of dice. We will split this problem into two parts: What is the number of different types of full houses that could be rolled? What is the number of ways that a particular type of full house could be rolled? Once we know the number to each of these, we can multiply them together to give us the total number of full houses that can be rolled. We begin by looking at the number of different types of full houses that can be rolled. Any of the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 could be used for the three of a kind. There are five remaining numbers for the pair. Thus there are 6 x 5 30 different types of full house combinations that can be rolled. For example, we could have 5, 5, 5, 2, 2 as one type of full house. Another type of full house would be 4, 4, 4, 1, 1. Another yet would be 1, 1, 4, 4, 4, which is different than the preceding full house because the roles of the fours and ones have been switched. Now we determine the different number of ways to roll a particular full house. For example, each of the following gives us the same full house of three fours and two ones: 4, 4, 4, 1, 14, 1, 4, 1, 41, 1, 4, 4, 41, 4, 4, 4, 14, 1, 4, 4, 1 We see that there are at least five ways to roll a particular full house. Are there others? Even if we keep listing other possibilities, how do we know that we have found all of them? The key to answering these questions is to realize that we are dealing with a counting problem and to determine what type of counting problem we are working with. There are five positions, and three of these must be filled with a four. The order in which we place our fours does not matter as long as the exact positions are filled. Once the position of the fours has been determined, the placement of the ones is automatic. For these reasons, we need to consider the combination of five positions taken three at a time. We use the combination formula to obtain C(5, 3 ) 5!/(3!2!) (5 x 4) / 2 10. This means that there are 10 different ways to roll a given full house. Putting all of this together, we have our number of full houses. There are 10 x 30 300 ways to obtain a full house in one roll. Probability Now the probability of a full house is a simple division calculation. Since there are 300 ways to roll a full house in a single roll and there are 7776 rolls of five dice possible, the probability of rolling a full house is 300/7776, which is close to 1/26 and 3.85%. This is 50 times more likely than rolling a Yahtzee in a single roll. Of course, it is very likely that the first roll is not a full house. If this is the case, then we are allowed two more rolls making a full house much more likely. The probability of this is much more complicated to determine because of all of the possible situations that would need to be considered.
